Allegra has also freelanced for WESA 90.5 FM, covering arts and culture in Pittsburgh. She holds a BA in Broadcast Journalism from Howard University.

Harriet Jackson

Growing up listening to WAMO 105.9 in Pittsburgh, Harriet Freeman-Jackson built a career there she never imagined. An internship with WAMO's "From Our Perspective" during her junior year of college, where she prescreened guests and developed questions for Dr. Ralph Proctor, led to voicing weekend weather on sister station AM 860.

After graduating from LaRoche University, she worked part-time as an audio journalist for Sheridan Broadcasting Corporation, interviewing prominent international figures. In 1994, Harriet joined WAMO-FM full-time as the "Wonder Girl," the morning show producer for the "Breakfast Jam" with Dr. Michael Lyn and Jasmine James.

On their show, Program Director Hurricane Dave Smith approved the station's first morning gospel song, Kirk Franklin's "Why We Sing," which they called "morning inspiration."

Harriet also sang the chorus for the popular local "David's Shoes in East Liberty" commercial on WAMO-FM. Although she enjoyed working behind the scenes more than being an on-air personality, she held various roles at WAMO, including assistant to the music director, sales, and Executive Producer of the "Teen Scene" radio show on AM 860. She concluded her WAMO career as Promotions Director.

Her broadcasting experience then led her to production roles at WPXI-TV and Radio Disney before she transitioned to the non-profit sector to dedicate more time to raising her daughters.
